About the designer: Inspired by the young music scene in New York, designer Rachel Comey launched her eponymous line of menswear in 2001, followed by a successful women's collection in 2004. Comey, who graduated from the University of Vermont with an art degree in sculpture, infuses her line with original print-heavy fabrics and modern silhouettes. In addition to clothing, she also creates original accessories and a line of shoes. Her use of particular materials and hand craftsmanship has led to a strong international following of chic downtowners who appreciate quirky charm and careful detail. She is currently a member of the CFDA, and prior to launching her eponymous line, Comey collaborated on a variety of creative projects, including designing stage sets and costumes for musical group Gogol Bordello.
