Since its birth in 1994, Maharishi has evolved into one of the UK’s most influential designer labels, offering men’s, women’s and children’s collections of pacifist military designs that convey a strong anti-war sentiment through their use of camouflage. Founded by Hardy Blechman, Maharishi carries a strong ethos of respect for nature while utilising the latest technology. Recycled military surplus has always been a permanent feature of maharishi's mainline collection, including vintage surplus items that are recut and updated with accessory and cord systems. These processes are carried out in India, where the clothing is smudged with herbal incense, blessed, and washed in saffron water to symbolically cleanse it of its military associations.
