For most people Morandi is synonymous with still life, and in this case, ordinary bottles are made extraordinary by the skilful use of light colours and illumination by a soft, almost impalpable light. With almost surgical precision, Elena Salmistraro plucks them from their canvas prison, magically restoring them to three dimensions. Transforming bottles into lamps, the ethereal light that Morandi gave to his masterpieces becomes a part of the object itself.
