Haynes Edition London Underground Jigsaw
Haynes Edition London Underground Jigsaw

The London Undergroundis a public metro system serving a large part of Greater London and parts of the surrounding counties. The system serves 270 stations and has 402 kilometres (250 mi) of track, 55 per cent of which is above ground. The network has expanded to 11 lines, and in 2012/13 carried over 1 billion passengers. The system’s first tunnels were built just below the surface using the cut and cover method. Later, circular tunnels –which give rise to its nickname the Tube –were dug through the London Clay at a deeper level. The early lines were marketed as the UNDERGROUND in the early 20th century on maps and signs at central London stations. Today in official publicity and in general, the term ‘Tube’ embraces the whole Underground system, not just the lines that run in deep-level tunnels. This fascinating jigsaw puzzle combines illustrations from the Haynes Manual with detailed close-ups and facts about the London Underground making it perfect for transport enthusiasts and puzzlers of all ages. Haynes Great War Tank Edition Jigsaw
Haynes Great War Tank Edition Jigsaw

The development of tanks in World War I was a response to the stalemate that trench warfare had created on the western front. While the British took the lead in tank development, the French were not far behind, fielding their first tanks in April, 1917 and going on to produce more tanks than all the other combatants combined. The Germans, on the other hand, were slower to develop tanks, concentrating on anti-tank weapons to use against British and French tanks. The first really successful use of tanks came in the Battle of Cambrai in 1917. British Colonel J.F.C. Fuller, chief of staff of the Tank Corps, was responsible for the tanks’ role in the battle. Tanks became more effective as the lesson of the early tanks was absorbed. This fascinating jigsaw puzzle combines illustrations from the Haynes Manual with detailed close-ups and facts about the Great War tanks making it perfect for tank & war enthusiasts and puzzlers of all ages.
