The Challenge

Your mission is to use the ShopStyle website and your sense of style to create the hottest looks for spring on ShopStyle.com. Think about your favorite spring activities as you combine our thousands of designer clothing and accessory items to build your looks. The challenge is a contest of skill where you need to let your creativity shine and convince us why your outfit is the best. The fashion focused judges will cast their votes and select the top three looks.

How to Win:

Diversity. Use the full range of ShopStyle's website — variety across designers, stores, prices, ages, and sizes. Also include shoes and accessories when applicable to your style.

Creativity. Be creative in your outfit design and your descriptive write-up. Use the opportunity in your profile and your look description to convince us that your style choices deserve to win.

Completeness. You must have a complete profile, a minimum of three pieces per outfit, a title for your look, and a description for your look in order to win.

Additionally, the judges will look favorably on submissions that are full of interest; we encourage you to upload an image and solicit comments. Use the "set image" and "add comment" buttons on each look.

The Best Look Wins:

Grand Prize: One $500 Shopbop.com gift certificate

Have your photo and biography published and your winning fashion combinations highlighted on ShopStyle.com for one month after the end of competition.

Runner-up Looks Win:

Official Contest Rules

To Enter

ShopStyle is sponsoring "Set the Trend 2007" — a Virtual Fashion Contest (the "Contest"). No purchase or subscription is necessary to enter this Contest. To enter you must complete a profile in the ShopStyle website with your email and a nickname of your choice ("eligible entry"). In addition to the required identifying information, an eligible entry must include: title and description for the look, a complete outfit consisting of at least 3 items per look, and a completed user profile. Any late, lost, misdirected, incorrect or incomplete entries will be disqualified and Company (and its agents) will not be responsible for such entries. You may submit multiple looks, but there is a limit of twenty eligible entries per day. A day is defined as 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Pacific Time. No entries will be accepted before May 1, 2007 or after 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, May 31, 2007.

Eligibility

To participate in the Set the Trend Contest you must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States. Employees and contractors of ShopStyle, Shopbop and Coutorture, members of the Coutorture blogging network, and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter. To be eligible, you must agree to abide by these rules and be bound by all ShopStyle decisions relating to this Contest, which are final and binding in all respects, including but not limited to the determination of winners.

Prizes

Three Winners will receive either a $500, $250 or $150 Shopbop.com gift certificate. Each Winner is responsible for the payment of all taxes associated with the receipt of any prize. No substitution or transfer of prizes permitted, except that if any prize is unavailable, ShopStyle has the right to substitute a prize of substantially equal value. Prizes may not be redeemed for cash. Prizes will be awarded by ShopStyle and provided by BOP LLC.

Judging

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by ShopStyle. The judges will have experience in the fashion industry and will determine the Grand Prize winner and second and third prize winners from the Contest entries based on the following two equally weighted factors:

Diversity. Full usage of ShopStyle's website: variety across designers, stores, prices, ages, sizes. Also include shoes and accessories when applicable to your style.

Creativity. Be creative in your outfit design and your descriptive write-up. Use the opportunity in your profile and your look description to convince us that your style choices deserve to win. Because this is a Contest of skill, winning the Contest is dependent on the number and quality of submissions received.

In the event of a tie, an additional judge will be appointed by ShopStyle to break the tie. Such judge will also have significant experience in the fashion industry and will decide the tie based on the same criterion listed above.

Winner Selection & Notification

If you are selected as a Contest winner, you agree and hereby grant permission to ShopStyle to publicize your name, likeness, and the description of work you did to win the Contest. Apart from the prizes associated with being selected as a winner, ShopStyle shall not be obligated to compensate you in any way for such publicity, unless prohibited by law. Entrants may request a list of winners by emailing ShopStyle at feedback@shopstyle.com.

Winner Requirements

The winning entry will be announced on the ShopStyle.com site by ShopStyle Inc. on June 5, 2007. Following the announcement, individual winners will be notified by e-mail. Winners have 14 days from notification to claim the prize. The decision of the judges is final. The criteria that the judges will use to select the entry are set forth above in the "Judging Section." Winners must sign and notarize an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release that will be sent via mail or email, and must be returned to ShopStyle within 14 days, in order for winners to be officially recognized. If the winner is unable to accept the prize, or if the winner does not return the signed Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within 14 days, ShopStyle will automatically disqualify the winner. In the event of disqualification of a winner, ShopStyle may replace the winner with the next runner-up at the sole discretion of the ShopStyle. Winners must also sign any applicable forms required by tax authorities and prize suppliers. Prizes will only be awarded to a winner if he/she complies with these rules. Prize may be claimed by return e-mail. All taxes, including income taxes, are the sole responsibility of winners. No prize substitution is permitted. Winner(s) may be required to verify their entry.

Limitations of Liability:

ShopStyle is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by ShopStyle, or you or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in association with this contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions that may limit an entrants ability to participate in this contest. BY ACCEPTING DELIVERY OF THE PRIZE, WINNERS AGREE THAT THE PRIZE IS AWARDED ON THE CONDITION THAT SHOPSTYLE AND ITS AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES AND EMPLOYEES WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND RESULTING FROM ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION OR USE OF THE PRIZE. Winners further acknowledge that the foregoing parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee (express or implied, in fact or in law) in connection with the prize or the use or enjoyment of the prize. IF THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PRIZE OFFERS A WARRANTY IT WILL BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO SEEK WARRANTY SERVICE DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

General Conditions:

If any provision of this Official Contest Rules is held to be illegal or unenforceable, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these rules shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. ShopStyle reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of these rules. If ShopStyle determines, in its sole discretion, that the on-line portion of the Contest is compromised by virus, bug, robot entries, or other corruption of the administration, security or proper play of the contest, then, at its sole discretion, ShopStyle can cancel this Contest. In the event of any non-compliance with any requirement stated herein, a winner's prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. This contest is governed by and shall be construed under the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to the conflicts of law provisions therein. The prize will only be sent to a U.S. address, and will be subject to all applicable US taxes and withholding. This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by any relevant federal, state or local law, including but not limited to jurisdictions with laws that would require registration, disclosure, filing, trust account, or posting of a bond, or any other requirements that are not satisfied.
