i am so clueless about how to work these rooms. there should really be a help button! any info will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi pom, thanks for your question. Groups allow you to:
- subscribe to a group be notified by email when there's new activity (looks or topics);
- share one of your looks with any of your groups (from the create/edit look dialog);
- create new topics, and
- comment on any groups on group topics.
Basically you find groups of interest to join or create new ones around shared interests, hobbies, locations, etc. Also I suggest joining the "ShopStyle Fans" group where you can ask these kinds of questions, request new features and so on. Enjoy!
