Heal's Discovers Maya Side Table by Tom Parfitt. Inspired by the ways Soviet era modernist architecture used concrete to blur the lines between structure and decoration, the Maya side Table has been crafted in Chelmsford using a 4-part mould where the concrete is poured into its composite shapes and fused together in the drying process. Made from 90% recycled material, the side table also provides storage space for magazines and books. The success of the design is about keeping it as simple as possible, says designer Tom Parfitt. The composite concrete construction means the piece can also be used outdoors. The Maya Side Table is part of the Heal's Discovers range. Supporting great design has always been close to our hears at Heal's - we've been championing emerging designers since the days of Ambrose Heal (1872 - 1959). We still firmly believe that exceptional talent needs nurturing, which is why each Autumn we develop the work of the best up-and-coming product designers in our Heal's Discovers collection.
