Working in interior design in the 1980s, Nani Marquina discovered a need for rugs in tune with the furniture of those years, and she soon filled the gap with her own creations. Decades later, she continues with her innovative work, as shown in the introduction of the Seagrass Rug, which she designed for DWR. True to her belief that .a rug must surprise and captivate, but never be too aggressive,. Seagrass is crafted with long strands of felted wool, creating a lively and graphic floor covering that invites further examination. Hand tufted, each strand is quadruple stitched into the backing and then tied in a .granny. knot. Together with the nonprofit Care & Fair, Marquina is fighting against illegal child labor in the manufacturing of carpets.
